Newport Harbor Rain Cape
Nicholson’s Newport Harbor covers this reversible, packable, rainproof, windproof, lightweight rain poncho. The poncho folds up into included 8" x 10" travel pouch with snap-on and features a generous hood, two shell buttons for an adjustable fit, and can be machine washed and hung to dry. Measures 23” shoulder to wrist and is 55” wide, 100% polyester. This poncho can be worn with the image of James Nicholson's 1888 painting, 'Newport Harbor' facing out or the reverse side of solid teal.
Nicholson, a self-taught painter, immigrated to Newport from Scotland and worked as a master joiner on several summer cottages. This image of Newport Harbor beautifully illustrates a typical day in Newport's working waterfront of in the late 1800's, including the Eolus, a steamship which brought thousands of visitors to this city on the sea.
