Claggett Script Scarf
This scarf is made from a woven polyester material that looks and feels just like silk and measures 80” x 24”. The handwritten script that covers the scarf is taken from a 1721 letter by William Claggett.
Newport clockmaker and engraver, William Claggett (1694-1748), is one of America’s earliest and greatest clock-makers. Along with making majestic clockworks still valued for their precision and beauty today, he was tapped by the Rhode Island General Assembly to design and print state currency in 1738.
